Overstock set to expand software team in Ireland

According to siliconrepublic on Nov. 10., US online retail company Overstock has announced plans to set up a new tech team at its European headquarters in Sligo.

The Utah-based e-commerce company will be hiring technologists in software and DevOps engineering in the north-west of Ireland, to work on its blockchain and security-token subsidiary tZero.

Overstock first came to Sligo in 2013 and for the coming year it founded blockchain accelerator Medici Ventures.

As reported, US retail company Overstock also employs 90 people to work on software R&D, analytics and machine learning projects.

Overstock’s vice-president of software development, David Kenny mentioned that new recruits in Sligo will be getting the opportunity to join a revolutionary fintech platform.

Senior development manager at Overstock John Forde stated that tZero operates in a “fast-growing digital securities market”:

“It is an exciting time for Overstock Ireland to be working with tZero to expand into this area. It provides diversity in terms of both technology and business domain and enables us to provide exciting and challenging roles here in the northwest.”

According to cointelegraph, Overstock was one of the first common companies to announce Bitcoin (BTC) support. After launching tZero security token exchange in 2016, Overstock completed a $134 million initial coin offering for tZero in August 2018.
