The crypto market began the weekend on a positive note, with bitcoin breaking through USD 61,000 for the first time in nearly a month, and ethereum, the dominant smart contract platform, reaching a new all-time high (ATH) against USD.
BTC is currently trading at USD 60,511, down from 61,206 earlier today. The price has risen by nearly 5% in a day and more than 2% in a week.
ETH, on the other hand, is up 4.5 percent in a day, trading at USD 2,165, after hitting USD 2,198, or its new all-time high (per Coingecko) today. In the last week, the price has risen by 1.5 percent.
